Consumer Resource Systems
Contemporary consumer culture is flooded with symbols and archetypes. In order to navigate through this sea of images, I appropriate and replicate cultural icons. Through the layering and juxtaposition of icons, I present the viewer with a system of symbolic meaning. I have created a self-governed visual language to confront personal experiences regarding identity found within culture. The work uses an expressive sense of structure and rhythm in an attempt to craft an authentic voice in a society lost to all but the act of consuming.
